The Wolfgang Press

The Wolfgang Press era uma banda pós-punk inglesa, ativa de 1983 a 1995, gravando para o selo 4AD . O núcleo da banda era Michael Allen (vocal e baixo), Mark Cox (teclados) e Andrew Gray (guitarra).

Allen começou em The Models em 1977. Allen e Cox tinham sido membros de Rema-Rema e Mass , enquanto Gray era membro da In Camera . Todas essas bandas também gravaram para 4AD.

O grupo é mais conhecido por seu hit internacional de 1992, "A Girl Like You (Born To Be Kissed)".

O perfil oficial da banda 4AD descreve-os como "pós-punk", transformando-se em "grooves avant-dance" com o disco Queer. A banda era frequentemente rotulada de "gótica", embora eles negassem.

Mass foi uma banda pós-punk inglesa, formada por Gary Asquith, Mick Allen, Mark Cox e Danny Briottet. Asquith, Allen e Cox foram membros de Rema-Rema.

A banda lançou um single 7": You And I, em 1980, pelo selo 4AD e o LP Labor of Love em 1981, também no 4AD, que viu as comparações feitas com Joy Division e The Birthday Party. Ficaram cinco semanas no UK Indie Chart, chegando ao número 19.

Se separaram em 1981, Allen e Cox formaram a The Wolfgang Press em 1983, enquanto Asquith e Briottet formaram o Renegade Soundwave em 1986.

Rema-Rema

Rema-Rema foi um grupo de música inglesa de curta duração, composto por Gary Asquith (guitarra / vocal), Marco Pirroni (guitarra), Mick Allen (baixo / vocal), Mark Cox (teclados) e Dorothy Max Prior (bateria).

Asquith e Allen estudaram na mesma escola. Após sua saída da banda punk The Models, Allen pediu a Asquith para participar de um novo projeto, chamado Rema-Rema. No entanto, a banda se dissolveu quando Marco Pirroni se juntou a Adam & The Ants.

Pirroni tinha sido um membro original de Siouxsie & The Banshees, e foi integrante da Cowboys International, mas logo depois ficou famoso como um membro de Adam & The Ants. Asquith, Allen e Cox formaram outra banda: Mass, de curta duração e que se dividiu para formar Renegade Soundwave (Asquith) e The Wolfgang Press (Allen e Cox). Max mais tarde se juntou à Psychic TV, e também gravou um single "I Confess" sob o nome de Dorothy, coescrito com Alex Fergusson, lançado pela Industrial Records em 1980.

Seu único EP de quatro faixas, Wheel In The Roses (lançado em 1980), apresentava um lado de gravações de estúdio e outro de material ao vivo. Suas canções "Fond Affections" e "Rema-Rema" tiveram covers de This Mortal Coil e Big Black, respectivamente.

Duas faixas ao vivo do show do Acklam Hall de abril de 1979, "Why Ask Why?" e "Christopher" apareceu no single "The Men With the Deadly Dreams", em White Stains, em 1981.
